Pokémon card price comparison: frequently asked questions

How NearMintDeals compares eBay prices, what the numbers mean and how to buy Pokémon cards safely.

What is NearMintDeals?

NearMintDeals is a free Pokémon card price comparison for eBay. For the exact card you pick, we look at current fixed-price listings, add the shipping cost and show you the cheapest offers next to the typical market price, so you can see at a glance whether a listing is a real deal.

How does NearMintDeals find cheap Pokémon cards on eBay?

We regularly scan eBay Buy It Now listings, match each one to the card by name, card number, set and language, and compare the cheapest listing with the median price of the cheapest current listings. A card only appears in the deal list if it is at least 15% below that market price.

What does market price mean?

The market price is the median total price (item plus shipping) of the cheapest current eBay listings for the same card. Where reference data from Cardmarket is available, we also use it to throw out listings that are priced far away from the card's known value, which usually means a wrong or mislabeled card.

Are shipping costs included in the prices?

Yes. Every price you see is the item price plus shipping to the country you selected, so the cheapest listing is actually the cheapest and not just the lowest sticker price. Prices are shown in the local currency of that country.

Does NearMintDeals show graded Pokémon cards?

Yes, in the Graded Cards section. We list graded cards from PSA, BGS, CGC and SGC with the total price including shipping, the discount compared to similar slabs and a direct link to the eBay listing. Graded cards are kept out of the regular deals and the card search, which only compare raw (ungraded) cards.

How do you filter out fake or wrong Pokémon cards?

We remove proxies, custom and fan-art cards, metal cards, keychains, stickers, frames, display cases and other accessories. We also reject listings with a different card number, a different language or a price that makes no sense for the card. No filter is perfect, so always check the photos, the description and the seller's feedback before you buy.

What does Near Mint mean for Pokémon cards?

Near Mint (NM) is the condition grade for cards with no or only very minor wear, such as tiny edge marks. NearMintDeals shows the condition the seller states in the eBay listing. We cannot inspect cards ourselves, so look at the photos of the actual card.

Which countries and languages are supported?

You can compare listings located in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Italy, in English, German, French or Italian card language. Visitors from Germany start with Germany and German selected by default.

How often are the deals updated?

The deal lists refresh about every 30 minutes, chase cards about every 2 hours and graded cards about every 3 hours. eBay prices can change at any time, so always confirm the final price and shipping on the eBay listing before you buy.

What are chase cards?

Chase cards are the most sought-after cards of a set, such as alternate arts and secret rares. In our Chase Cards section we only show cards with a market value of roughly 150 euros or more that are currently listed at least 20% below their market price.

Is it safe to buy Pokémon cards on eBay?

Buying on eBay is generally safe if you take a few precautions: choose sellers with strong feedback, look for photos of the actual card instead of stock images, prefer tracked shipping and use eBay's Money Back Guarantee if the card does not match the listing.

Does NearMintDeals sell cards or cost anything?

No. NearMintDeals is free and does not sell cards. You buy directly from the seller on eBay. Some links to eBay may be affiliate links (marked with an asterisk), which means we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Are TCG Pocket cards included?

No. NearMintDeals covers physical Pokémon TCG cards only. Digital cards from Pokémon TCG Pocket cannot be bought and are not listed.
